The author, Bob Soden, has previously published articles and papers on ski history in periodicals such as Skiing Heritage and the Journal of the Ski History Congress. This is his first children’s book. In his previous careers, he worked as a nickel miner, ski instructor, mechanical designer and construction project manager. He divides his time between his home in Montreal and a getaway in Vermont, where he and his family are fond of exploring the mountains and rivers near Jay Peak. He also enjoys skiing in Utah.
The illustrator, Emily Soden, the author’s daughter, graduated from Sheridan College with a BAA in Illustration with honors. She currently resides in Toronto where she works as a freelance illustrator and artist. She enjoys working with mediums such as oil, acrylic, pencil, scratchboard and her favorite, watercolor and ink. When not found painting, she often has her nose in a book or is wandering the outdoors with a camera in hand.
